Marty battles the mirage on range

Euroa Gazette - - SPORTS -

very difficult, it was nothing to what Lang Lang turned on, on Saturday.

The warm day exasperated the strength of the mirage and this, combined with a very fickle wind proved to be a test for all shooters.

Marty shot 85.7 at 500 and was ranked 12th and then at 600 he shot 86.6 to be ranked 5th along with significant insights into working in conditions where mirage is an issue.

Back at Violet Town the conditions were no better including a very sharply changing and unpredictable wind, again.

The day also proved to be an ideal test bed for some of the new loads being prepared for the State team competitions.

The right to be called top shot proved to a very close match between Geoff James and Norm Linehan, two of the ECDRA’s most experienced shooters.

It was Norm with 108.03 who edged out Geoff with a score of 107.02, a very close tussle.

Other scores were Chi Somlong shot a 97.04 and Richard Godden with one stage only a 41.01.

Next week shooting will be at the Violet Town Shooting Complex for the Dragon Diesel Challenge, shooting will commence at 9am.

The Dragon Diesel challenge is always a lot of fun and new shooters are most welcome to join in to contest the fantastic range of trophies provided by the sponsors.
