Euroa gets the win over ‘Murch’

AFTER los­ing the toss and be­ing sent into bat, the Euroa boys were soon in trou­ble.

Jack McKer­nan was bowled for 10 in the fifth over, and brother Linc, was caught be­hind for five in the next over.

Five overs later Mitch Pen­man was caught for two, then Nick Brodie was bowled for eight in the next over.

After 12 overs Euroa were 4/27.

This brought two Vi­o­let Town re­cruits to the crease in Nate Ab­ley and Ryan Jen­nings.

Th­ese two put on a valu­able part­ner­ship of 104 in 14 overs be­fore Ryan was caught for 28.

An­other Vi­o­let Town (VT) re­cruit in Will Mack­rell joined Nate, but 30 runs later Will was caught for 10.

Cam Frost didn’t bother the scorer.

The fourth of the VT re­cruits in Ross Withers joined Nate, and a 59 run part­ner­ship was put on be­fore Ross was judged LBW for five.

J Wil­son faced three balls be­fore he was run out for zero on the last ball of the in­nings.

Euroa were 9/224 after 40 overs.

Nate Ab­ley fin­ished un­beaten on 150 in only 102 min­utes.

The ball was sent all over the ground as well as the bound­aries so it was a great in­nings.

After tea the Euroa boys took to the field.

Open­ing bowlers Cam Frost and Nate Ab­ley bowled six overs each with Nate dis­man­tling the wood­work in his three overs.

Linc McKer­nan and Will Mack­rell were the next change of bowlers with each bowl­ing five overs.

Linc took a wicket in his sec­ond and fourth overs.

At drinks Murchi­son were on a par with Euroa be­ing 3/73.

Jack McKer­nan and Jye Bjork­sten came on and Jack got two wick­ets in his sec­ond over with Ross Withers tak­ing the catch.

An 80 run part­ner­ship was put on by Murchi­son.

Ryan Jen­nings, Nick Brodie and Jack Wil­son all got a bowl.

Cam Frost came back on and a run-out was had in his sec­ond over back then with the last ball of the day Nate Ab­ley stumped the bats­man with Jack Wil­son be­ing the bowler.

Linc McKer­nan was the only bowler to get more than one wicket.

After 40 overs Murchi­son fin­ished 6/155.
