Be­nalla Ru­ral City mayor to run as in­de­pen­dent can­di­date in seat of Euroa this elec­tion

DON Firth’s in­de­pen­dent can­di­dacy will make the bat­tle for the state seat of Euroa a three way tus­sle. Na­tion­als’ in­cum­bent and deputy party leader Steph Ryan is look­ing to re­tain the seat, while the La­bor Party is hop­ing to win it with its can­di­date Fionna Dep­peler-Mor­ton

Pre­vi­ous ex­pe­ri­ence in lo­cal coun­cil is some­thing Cr Firth only sees as a ben­e­fit, say­ing he will be able to hit the ground run­ning hav­ing had ex­pe­ri­ence with a lot of pol­icy and pro­ce­dure.

The fa­ther of two said his ex­pe­ri­ence with hav­ing kids is one of the rea­sons he is stand­ing, em­pha­sis­ing this elec­torate de­serves to be bet­ter rep­re­sent- ed with ed­u­ca­tion fa­cil­i­ties.

“There are so many things that have been ig­nored and it’s time to start press­ing the is­sues,” Cr Firth said.

He has been with Be­nalla Ru­ral City coun­cil for two years and has run Be­nalla Elec­tri­cal Con­trac­tors for 30 years. Mr Firth is plan­ning on tour­ing the elec­torate over the com­ing weeks.
