Nom­i­nate for Fair­ley Lead­er­ship Pro­gram

ARE you in­ter­ested in re­gional is­sues and de­vel­op­ing your lead­er­ship skills to be a cat­a­lyst for pos­i­tive change in the lo­cal com­mu­nity?

Strath­bo­gie Shire Coun­cil in­vites en­thu­si­as­tic cit­i­zens of the Strath­bo­gie Shire to ap­ply to par­tic­i­pate in the Fair­ley Lead­er­ship Pro­gram in 2019.

The pro­gram is a Goul­burn Mur­ray based or­gan­i­sa­tion which aims to de­velop lead­ers to ex­plore ma­jor is­sues fac­ing the re­gion’s com­mu­ni­ties and ways to im­ple­ment pos­i­tive change.

This de­ci­sion by Strath­bo­gie Shire coun­cil to spon­sor a mem­ber of the lo­cal com­mu­nity was made in May this year.

Shire Mayor Amanda McClaren is a Fair­ley Fel­low, was the ex- ec­u­tive di­rec­tor of the pro­gram be­tween 2013 and 2014 and chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer be­tween 2015 and 2016, be­fore be­com­ing mayor.

“We have very strong con­nec­tions with the Fair­ley Lead­er­ship Pro­gram, with three pre­vi­ous may­ors who are also Fair­ley Fel­lows, in­clud­ing Colleen Furlan­etto who was mayor in 2016 and is a pow­er­ful ad­vo­cate for those liv­ing with a disability,” Cr McClaren said.

“Fair­ley is a na­tion­ally recog­nised qual­i­fi­ca­tion that builds skills and con­fi­dence and is a great way to net­work with other lead­ers in the re­gion.

“As a coun­cil, we saw this as a fan­tas­tic op­por­tu­nity to in­vest in our com­mu­nity lead­ers, who will play a cru­cial role in build­ing flour­ish­ing com­mu­ni­ties.

“We wel­come self-nom­i­na­tions or nom­i­na­tions for in­di­vid­u­als who you recog­nise as great con­trib­u­tors to the com­mu­nity, or some­one you believe would greatly ben­e­fit from par­tic­i­pat­ing in this per­sonal de­vel­op­ment op­por­tu­nity.”

The pro­gram is in­ten­sive and re­quires at­ten­dance to15 sem­i­nar days, sev­eral din­ners and two study tours to Can­berra and Mel­bourne. Ap­pli­ca­tions can be ob­tained at: fices in Bin­ney Street, Euroa;

The suc­cess­ful can­di­date will be no­ti­fied by Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 24, and the sub­mis­sion will be for­warded to Fair­ley Lead­er­ship Pro­gram for con­sid­er­a­tion.
