Rural Women’s Award applications are open
APPLICATIONS are now open for the Victorian Rural Women’s Award for 2019.
The State Government is encouraging women involved in rural and regional industries, businesses and communities to apply for the 2019 Victorian AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award.
The award provides a platform to inspire and support Australian women to use and develop their skills to benefit their industries and communities.
Winner of the award will receive a $10,000 bursary for innovative ideas and projects, access to professional development opportunities and alumni networks.
Finalists will be selected based on demonstration of their commitment to the future sustainability of primary industries, their potential to achieve and deliver benefits to their industry, and their ability to provide leadership and knowledge within the wider community.
The 2018 Victorian winner was Melissa Connors from Kyneton for her project ‘This Farm Needs A Farmer’.
“I really wanted to apply, not only for myself and the project, but to be part of something I truly believed in and to set an example to my kids of giving things a go,” she said.
Melissa is focussed on creating stronger and more engaged farming communities by connecting tree changers with established and retired farmers to facilitate invalu- able knowledge transfer.
Minister for Agriculture Jaala Pulford said our rural and regional women are inspiring and taking leaps and bounds every day she strongly encourages women to put their hand up, nominate a friend, a family member or even yourself.
Applications close on October 31 and for more information visit http://agriculture. vic. gov. au/ agriculture/ foodand-fibre-industries/rural-womens-award.
