GOLFERS played the qualifying round of the ‘Play 9’ competition last Saturday and had a reasonable field considering it was Grand Final day.
Eight men and six ladies played the nine hole stableford event and there were a couple a great scores recorded.
Alex Smith had a blistering 22 points to win the men’s event and that score included wipes on the first two holes.
David Fullager was the next in line with 19 points, and collected a ball along with Jared Smith on 18 points and Tim Batten on 17.
Robin Lied had a terrific score of 21 points to easily win the ladies competition.
Anne Burns, Lauris Truscott and Joyce White were ball winners.
It was great to welcome Joyce back for a hit after a long hiatus.
A reminder that the annual dinner is this coming Saturday, commencing with drinks at approximately 6.30pm.
If you haven’t booked with Tim or Lyn then you had better do so as soon as possible.
The AGM will be held at the clubhouse on Wednesday, October 11, commencing at 7.30.
All positions are vacant and nomination forms are available in the clubhouse.
Finally, this is an early plug for the Melbourne Cup Calcutta, to be held on Monday, November 5.
The cost is $80 per table which draws a horse and prize money is given for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and last.
A cold buffet tea will be available from 6.00 pm and the Calcutta will commence at 7.30 pm.
Bill Shelton will once again be our MC/ Auctioneer/Story Teller and a great night is guaranteed.

Runner up went to an in-form Lindsay Hall with a score that would win most par events carding plus four, beating playing partner Wes Boyle on count back also with a plus four.
The nearest the pins went to Lindsay Hall on the 3rd, Alby Seenan driving it close onto the 8th and Shaun Spicer claiming another nearest the pin in consecutive weeks on the 16th.
Next week’s tee off time will change with daylight saving, with summer tee off times being 8 to 8.30 am.
A stroke monthly medal is on offer with J. Ezard on office duty and W. LeCerf in the bar. en way count back from Bill Levinson, Des Phelan, Allan Labas, John Richards, Joe Labas and Ross Murray.
Next week there will be a stroke event to be played on the front nine.
Golf next Saturday is stroke, the monthly medal and the third round of the club championship.
