WILLIAMS

F1 Racing - - SEASON PREVIEW 2016 -

Winning is in the DNA of Williams. I understand that they have certain commercial pressures to run a successful business, however, they should have won a race in the last two years. They denitely should have won in Austria 2014, yet came up short for reasons I suspect they must have analysed repeatedly.

Williams winning would bring a lot of pleasure to many people in the paddock, but I can’t see how they can jump from their bronze medal position in the constructors’ championship with the resources they have. I remember asking Patrick Head a few years ago whether it was brain power or money that was restricting Williams’ performance, and while someone in marketing said to me that it was nancial, Patrick looked me straight in the eye and boomed: “Brain power!” That’s because Patrick is old-school and he knows that money alone won’t buy you success, it’s about clever ideas and a well-oiled machine.
