Catalunya is a track that presents a mid-level difficulty for the brakes; the braking demand here is similar to that of the Shanghai and Mexico City circuits. That’s not to say it’s easy on brakes – for, example, Turn 1 requires a huge braking effort, with the cars decelerating from 335 to 120km/h, during a brake application that demands a pedal force of 168kg and which lasts a mere 1.11 seconds in a braking area only 103 metres long.
