The new Baku cir­cuit was a step into the un­known on many lev­els but brak­ing wise it fell into the cat­e­gory of ‘medium’. Of the 12 brak­ing zones, nine are con­sid­ered medium and three light - none are rated as heavy. The en­ergy dis­si­pated dur­ing brak­ing by each car through­out the en­tire grand prix is 139kWh, the equiv­a­lent of the amount of elec­tric­ity con­sumed dur­ing the en­tire race by about 290 res­i­dents of Azer­bai­jan.
