Vettel moves closer to signing new Ferrari deal
The four-time world champion has been offered a new contract despite doubts over his relative performance against Räikkönen
Ferrari have offered Sebastian Vettel a new two-year contract to keep him at the team until the end of 2019, according to sources close to the team. The two parties are in the early phases of negotiations, which could take some time.
The offer comes despite questions being raised within the team about the relative performances of Vettel and team-mate Kimi Räikkönen since the early summer. After a shaky period that included weak races in Monaco and Canada, Räikkönen’s future in the team was in doubt.
