Suzuka may be difficult and challenging but it is not a heaving-braking circuit. With its wide, open curves, it’s on a par with Spa Francorchamps. Turn one is not the heaviest braking point on the track but it does boast the highest deceleration as the cars go from 318km/h to 117km/h in only 81 metres (which is equivalent to just over the length of three cars on the Shinkansen train) and 1.08 seconds.
