JAMES WHITHAM’S MOTORCYCLE TRACK TRAINING

Fast Bikes - - TRACK SCHOOLS -

His eyes are far too close together but James Whitham is a bloody legend, and a good friend of Fast Bikes. He, along with a few other friends, also runs track training days, which very much follow more of a trackday programme than other schools. You’ll be split into three groups depending on ability and experience, and followed closely throughout the day by an instructor. Like Ron Haslam’s shindig, Whitham’s coaching is tailored specifically to individual needs, weaknesses and requirements, as well as general techniques, and numbers are purposely kept low.

The instructors’ list is a who’s who of motorcycle racing, past and present. From TT stars like Hutchy and Gary Johnson, to current BSB stars like Linfoot and Iddon, the banter is as strong as the coaching. And one of the finest elements of Whit’s days are the small groups – a maximum of 20 means a safe and effective day at either Anglesey, Mallory or Croft.

Did you know: Whitham once smashed a Honda Prelude (owned by Honda UK) at a Donington GP in the 90s during a post-race piss-up. Price: from £195 Web: www.jameswhitham.com

Fun in the sun with Whit!
