KTM RC8R
RARITY Yep
UNUSUAL TECH Mad styling, and KTM’s only superbike
NOSTALGIA For F-117 stealth attacker fans
The proof that there is no god is that KTM isn’t making a road-going replica of its jaw-droppingly gorgeous RC16 MotoGP bike. The daft Austrians have even dumped this, the RC8 – their only serious stab at a proper sportsbike so far. The big boss mutters some rubbish about them being too much for the road – but he also sells the weapons-grade bonkers Super Duke 1290, so we’ll take no lessons from him, thank you!
The RC8 looked totally alien, with its angles and facets, but under all that is a sweet V-twin motor and a surprisingly useful, high-performance chassis. Get one now while they’re cheap, do all the recalls and upgrades, and keep her stock, stock, stock. White and orange probably the best colour.
