Fast Bikes - - FEATURE -

There have been good years and there have been bad years. In that, I mean there have been years when it’s been justified as one or two riders may have been getting away at the front and years, like this one for example, where a straight points race would have been just as exciting. But it’s here to stay and it will no doubt continue to do its job. Shakey hated it in the early days as he said it cost him another title but more recently, it’s played into his hands and certainly has done this season. From a fan’s perspective, and I consider myself to be one of those now, it doubles the excitement as it’s all about who actually makes the cut at the end of round nine, and then, of course, how the Showdown pans out.

So I actually like it though I can understand why some riders don’t but for the most part, the rider who has performed the best throughout the season will end up champion no matter what. Luck always plays its part, but it does in all sports, there’s nothing you can do to change that. I think the whole system works well and MSV have just about got it right with the number of rounds, the Podium Points formula, the current rules and the whole Showdown format.”
