Job Time: You’ll have this nailed in well under an hour, easy.
Costs: Not much, just a few quid for masking tape, wet & dry and polish.
Even though we’re taking the Build-Off MR2 and doing this the old skool way (using stuff we happen to have knocking about in the workshop), there’s a load of specialist products on the market designed to do the job perfectly. But no matter what they’re called, or how they’re marketed, these sort of ‘headlight restorers’ are basically all-in-one kits containing a scaled down version of all the stuff we have here. We’ve tested a few out over the years, and they’ve all been very good for (mostly) doing a single set of lights.
Whatever route you choose, though, the principle is still the same. You’ll need a varying selection of abrasives, working their way down from relatively fine grades of wet & dry paper, to extremely fine polish. All will be revealed.
Specialist Tools: None apart from a spray bottle. We’ve covered the rest.
