JAMES CAUSTON’S VAUXHALL NOVA

Fast Car - - READERS’ RIDES -

FC says: This is a build that really tickles our retro pickle. When most of us at FC Towers were first getting into cars and modding, there were Novas everywhere – this was the go-to ride for slamming to the floor, packing out with subs and cruising down the seafront. Novas are pretty thin on the ground these days, but James Causton’s Mustard Yellow stunner really takes us back to the glory days of the box-arched little Vaux. It’s a genuine 1.3 SR, featuring a proper period-perfect engine swap that a lot of modders were running back in the day: a red-top C20LET pinched from a Calibra. It’s making a brutal 270bhp, so thankfully it’s also got Reyland 4-pot brakes, an LSD-equipped Quaife ’box, coilovers, buckets and a ’cage. The fit-and-finish is absolutely flawless too! “It’s a bit of a handful,” he tells us. Yeah, we bet.
