FC Says: We love the Baur E30 as a model, be­cause it’s such a weird quirk of BMW his­tory. Ba­si­cally, the com­pany never planned to of­fer an of­fi­cial E30 con­vert­ible, but they knew there was niche de­mand for a soft-top so they com­mis­sioned Karosserie Baur to de­velop one as an op­tion – the main roof­skin was re­placed with can­vas. But when BMW changed their minds and started sell­ing a full E30 con­vert­ible, they still kept of­fer­ing the Baur op­tion too, for some rea­son. Aaaaany­way, Tony’s one here is no or­di­nary Baur. He’s run­ning a hot 2.7-litre six with Jen­vey ITBs and a stand­alone Emer­ald ECU, and the car’s bagged over some re­ally sweet cus­tom split-rims based on old-school OEM wheels. It had a full resto five years ago and it’s still to­tally mint; an awe­some combo of show and go, with plenty of power and an in­cred­i­ble noise from those juicy throt­tle bod­ies.
