TONY FORBES-MARSDEN BMW E30 BAUR
FC Says: We love the Baur E30 as a model, because it’s such a weird quirk of BMW history. Basically, the company never planned to offer an official E30 convertible, but they knew there was niche demand for a soft-top so they commissioned Karosserie Baur to develop one as an option – the main roofskin was replaced with canvas. But when BMW changed their minds and started selling a full E30 convertible, they still kept offering the Baur option too, for some reason. Aaaaanyway, Tony’s one here is no ordinary Baur. He’s running a hot 2.7-litre six with Jenvey ITBs and a standalone Emerald ECU, and the car’s bagged over some really sweet custom split-rims based on old-school OEM wheels. It had a full resto five years ago and it’s still totally mint; an awesome combo of show and go, with plenty of power and an incredible noise from those juicy throttle bodies.
