cleanliness of it. It’s testament to his skills and, of course, to M Hudd Motorsport that everything underneath the car looks factoryfresh; indeed, better than factory, as you wouldn’t ever expect a car to roll off the forecourt as gorgeously detailed as this. The staggeringly intricate engine bay, dripping and oozing in myriad polished accoutrements, rightly deserves its own mirrored lid so that every detail is available to enjoy in stereo, and the leather Recaro interior is absolutely mint too – completely stock, and acting as much as a timewarp as the rest of the car. It’s even still got the original Cowie dealer sticker in the window. This is an old-school modifying approach to an original example of a car increasingly viewed under the ‘retro’ banner.

“Future plans? Probably more power, I’d say, although the missus drives it most of the time and loves it the way it is, which is why it’s stayed at this level,” says Mark. And we can see the inherent conundrum there; on the one hand, as the driving force behind an RS specialist and also the popular RS Combe event, Mark’s bound to have an itchy trigger finger when it comes to tuning. On the other, he’s showed an impressive level of restraint to ensure that this Cosworth is as impeccably-specced as it is beautifully presented. We’ll just have to wait and see – but one thing we can be sure of, given the evidence of his other projects, is that it’ll certainly be something worth watching.
