BLUEPRINT MEET

We head to Blueprint in Nottingham for a gathering of some seriously eye-catching fast Fords…

Eye-catching Fords get together at the famous wrappers.

When it comes to vinyl wraps, there’s one name that’s synonymous with fast Fords – Blueprint. The Nottingham-based specialists are responsible for some of the most eyecatching and distinctive cars in the Blue Oval scene. So, when we heard they were opening their workshop doors and inviting along a selection of the best Fords to pass through their hands, we just had to pop along to witness some of these imaginative creations for ourselves.

One thing we noticed is just how different every car is, with every owner making their own mark. In terms of the different designs, it seems that one person stood out time and time again from the owners, and that’s Stan who does all the design work for Blueprint.

We were keen to catch up with the owner of Blueprint, Richard Monk, to find out more on how this event (now in its third year) came to be: “Well, I started chatting to Ian Taylor from Ford-Mania about all the cars that we had wrapped (many of them

for Ford-Mania members) and suddenly thought ‘wouldn’t it be great if we had them all in one place’?” remembers Richard, “this was purely from the perspective that the cars come from all over the country and it’s not often you get to see them all together in the same place.”

The first meet was then arranged back in 2016, attracting about 14 or 15 cars, and raising money and awareness for children with cancer. The feedback from the event was excellent, so it wasn’t long before planning was underway for the second meet. Those owners of wrapped cars that didn’t attend the first meet kept asking for Blueprint/Ford-Mania to do another meet, so a date was duly set for 2017, and the second event was arranged, which conveniently tied in with Blueprint’s 30th anniversary celebrations too.

“Last year saw 21 cars attend, which was great and drew lots of attention from the general public, and again raised funds with children with cancer,” recalls Richard, “once again the feedback was great, so we decided to run the event again this year.”

Things stepped up for 2018 though, as not only did the great Fast Ford magazine cover the day, but a local Nottingham TV crew also came along to film a report too.

The organisers also provided food, music and a magician to create a real familyfriendly party atmosphere, and with over 30 cars attending it was easily the biggest meet yet – which was great news for the charity as the event raised over £400!

So, when we asked Blueprint and FordMania if they’re planning to do it again next year, the answer was an unsurprising and resounding ‘yes!’ And it seems plans for 2019 are for an even bigger and better day out – with a raffle prize offering one lucky winner the chance to have a quarter-wrap fitted live on the day!

Both Ford-Mania and Blueprint would like to thank everyone for coming, some making incredibly long journeys to be a part of the day. We have a feeling this event will grow bigger and bigger as each year goes by. Keep an eye out for details on next year’s event to be confirmed soon…
