Border bound in 2017
Wodonga Albury Field & Game will host the 2017 National Carnival and plans to welcome a record number of squads.
President Bruce Lennon said the branch shares facilities with SSAA who have not only offered their grounds but will lend a hand with the event.
Bruce said the branch had been successful in the last two rounds of the Victorian Government’s Shooting Sports Facilities Program, adding a concrete floor and a roof to the five stand, a generator for reliable power, a new kitchen and additional traps.
He said the branch felt ready to host another National Carnival.
“It is hilly, we have a nice big hill we can go around which leads to flatter ground but we also have gullys so you can shoot down, overall it is an interesting range and there’s no limit to the type of targets you can throw,” he said. “We’d like to try and do some different things but we’re yet to decide.”
The ground is only 15 minutes outside Wodonga which Bruce said should attract more families while the facilities have the capacity to host an increased number of competitors.
