We hear you loud and clear
The softest audible sound— near total silence—is 0 decibels (db). A sound 10 times more powerful is 10 db. A sound 100 times more powerful than near total silence is 20 db. A sound 1000 times more powerful than near total silence is 30 db.
Normal conversation occurs at 60 db. Lawn mowers run at 90 db, a jet engine at 140 db which is generally the level at which the report from a gun slams into a bare eardrum.
The intensity is brief compared to a jet engine but repeated over and over it can do real damage to your hearing. Well-rated earplugs offer protection but electronic earmuffs filter damaging noise while allowing you to hear quieter sounds.
