Rusa — Rusa timorensis Aaron R. Grant

Field and Game - - BOOK REVIEW AND PRIZES -

We arrive a little late to this party but for readers who are as passionate about deer as waterfowl this comes highly recommended by Peter Ryan, who describes this epic tome as: “A triumph of research, some brilliant images and top layout.”

Aaron Grant is an outdoor explorer with a passion for hunting, primarily deer, and his expeditions have taken him to more than 15 countries in his search for rugged terrain, adventures and chasing game.

Grant’s first book is the culmination of four years of research and a lifetime of observing and hunting his local rusa herd.

Chapters in the book include evolution, ecology and habits, indigenous ranges, the history of introductions of the species to Australia, New Guinea, New Zealand, New Caledonia and Mauritius. Also covered is information on how to judge a trophy rusa stag, the antler scoring systems and never-before-seen photos.

Grant was inspired to write the book after noting the lack of available and/or accurate information available.
