This photo is forever etched in my memory and it’s so special to me because it is how I remember my loyal companion and best mate. It was taken in Northern Victoria during 2009 Quail Season. At the time my beloved GSP Ray was 13-and-a-half years old and on point with his daughter one-and-a-half year old Ally backing. I took three photos from different angles and then the command was given to flush. A pair of quail were shot and on command, both were delivered to hand while Ally stayed on ‘back’ accompanied by my nephew, Steve. Ray’s granddaughter 2-year-old Stef is now working as a team with Ally, keeping the dream and tradition alive. MAGIC!
2017 was such amazing season, it will be memorable for many years to come, not only for the great hunting days but due to the wonderful scenery that can’t be repeated, even in dreams.
Watching falling stars before dawn, the magical sunrise from the far end of the lake, with breath paused in my lungs, I wished time would halt.
Those days became my daily story to the family and friends but those wonderful moments are better experienced than explained.
This is a photograph of my six-year-old son Tyler who in summer whistled in his first ever fox. It sat about 3 m in front of us for a minute so Tyler could get a good look before I shot it. It is a proud moment in my life, and one we will both always remember.
