The North West Zone School Shoot held at the Barrook Field & Game ground at Barham is one of the best-patronised school shoots on the calendar.
On the Monday following the opening weekend of the Victorian Duck Season, 77 students from Geelong, Wedderburn, Maryborough, Echuca, Moama, Kerang, Cohuna, Swan Hill, Mildura, Barham, Deniliquin and Balranald attended — all keen for a day’s shooting.
Again, the weather was perfect, with a glorious sunny day.
Once Shane, Mick and Norm had the students all nommed up, they commenced the shoot — two rounds of 12 targets per round.
A few shoot-offs were required to determine place getters. One of these being High Gun Boys between B. Beggs and A. Calleja.
Massive thank you to everyone who lent a hand on the day or beforehand from organising the entries, running the office, catering to all the hungry mouths, setting up and unpacking the courses, supervising the squads and to all the students who participated, some travelling quite a distance. A compliment I heard pass was how well behaved the students were on the day.
