The Ice Village is a winter wonderland open only to those staying at Hoshino Resorts Tomamu. Here everything is made of ice and there is plenty to do in this sparkly city. You can go ice skating, slither down the ice slide which runs from the terrace, visit the ice bar for a lemonade – where even the cups that you drink from are made of ice – eat in the ice restaurant on frozen tables and chairs, enter an ice chapel or sleep in an ice hotel under faux fur blankets. And if the chill gets too much you can head to the warm-up cottage to thaw out little fingers and toast marshmallows by an open fire.
Near the Ice Village you’ll find the Ice School. This is one school your children will enjoy attending; inside the igloo-like structure little ones can learn how to make creamy caramels, ice glasses or even replicas of ice crystals.
THE SNOW SHOW
There are a host of other snowy activities that children will love. The question is which goes faster: the snow banana boat or the snow raft through fresh powder? Or you could just beat the speed of both of them by booking a snowmobile ride which will take you up the mountain for some spectacular views. Families can also go on a snow picnic, or take their chance at ice fishing.
