Craignish family caught up in Hawaiian ballistic missile scare
IN THE first three weeks of
2018 the RACQ LifeFlight helicopter has been sent on six rescue missions to Fraser Island.
The Bundaberg based rescue helicopter arrived at the World Heritage-listed island for the sixth time on Sunday morning after a full 4-wheel-drive rolled on the beach.
Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics treated injured occupants at the scene until aero medical crews arrived.
A young woman suffered upper body injuries in the rollover and was airlifted to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.
The Fraser Island rescue added to an already busy weekend for LifeFlight with five primary missions completed across south east Queensland in less than 48 hours.
The period between 2016-2017 was a record year for LifeFlight for lifesaving missions with its aeromedical crews, community helicopters and Air Ambulance jets performing a record 5,342 missions throughout Queensland and around the world.
