Restoring power one line at a time

Fraser Coast Chronicle - - WILD WEATHER -

BROKEN powerlines were strewn throughout Maryborough West in the aftermath of the savage storm.

Workers from Ergon Energy worked tirelessly throughout the night to fix the widespread damage.

At its peak, more than 10,000 homes in the region were left without power.

As of last night, hundreds of local homes were still without power and some residents would remain without power going into the weekend.

A Fraser Coast Disaster Coordination Centre spokesman said the main damage, to his knowledge, was around the Maryborough West, Yengarie, Gayndah Rd area, Owanyilla, Dundathu and some of the Baddow area.

Ergon Energy crews from various parts of Queensland have been deployed to the Wide Bay for the storm cleanup.

Though the majority of the homes affected by outages were in the Maryborough region, including in the suburbs of Tiaro, Tinana, Baddow, Aldershot and Dundathu, there were some homes in the Hervey Bay region also affected.

The storm also caused power loss to the Maryborough Hospital but it has been restored.
