A BEELIAR swimming teacher has been charged following allegations of sexual abuse against a child under his supervision. Police allege the 48year-old sexually assaulted a teenage swimming student at his school between 2015 and 2017. The girl was 14 when the first alleged offence is believed to have taken place. Among charges laid against the man by Fremantle detectives were six counts of indecent dealing of a child while under supervision, four counts of using an electronic device to procure a child to engage in sexual activity and one count of procuring a child to engage in sexual behaviour. He will appear in the Fremantle Magistrates Court on July 17. Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers.
■ POLICE are investigating a crash that led to a 20-year-old man being taken to hospital. Police said the man was heading west along Beeliar Drive in Beeliar about 9pm on June 25, when the Holden Barina he was driving mounted a kerb and hit a tree.
