East Fremantle lifts rates by 2 per cent in line with neighbours
THE Town of East Fremantle has adopted its 2017-18 budget and with it a 2 per cent rate rise for residents.
The budget, which was passed at Tuesday night’s council meeting, has also put aside some money for several projects, including $2.094 million for the town hall refurbishment and $150,000 for the East Fremantle Oval precinct master plan.
The 2 per cent rate increase is on par with the neighbouring City of Fremantle and City of Melville, who put up their rates by 1.9 and 2 per cent respectively.
East Fremantle chief executive Gary Tuffin said it was important for the Town to produce a balanced budget.
“This budget has been built with a high level of detail and consideration given to the Town’s needs, responsibilities and the current economic climate,” he said.
