WA strike na­tional ta­ble ten­nis gold

FOUR teenage girls left WA to com­pete in the 2017 Aus­tralian Ju­nior Ta­ble Ten­nis Cham­pi­onships and all four re­turned as gold medal­lists .

Katy Valen­tine, Holly Ni­co­las, Mia Zou and Fre­man­tle Ta­ble Ten­nis Club’s Jac­que­line Bu­di­arto took out the un­der-18 team com­pe­ti­tion un­de­feated where they beat the best young tal­ent from all over the coun­try.

Four­teen-year-old Jac­que­line said she was re­ally happy with how she played in the na­tional com­pe­ti­tion.

“It was my first time play­ing in the Na­tional Cham­pi­onship rep­re­sent­ing our state, and I per­formed well in the tour­na­ment,” she said.

“I felt great, happy and ready for more chal­leng­ing cham­pi­onship to come in the fu­ture­more re­spon­si­bil­ity for me to train harder to achieve some­thing greater in the fu­ture.

“I wish to rep­re­sent Aus­tralia one day in the Oceania Cham­pi­onship or Com­mon­wealth Games or Olympic Games in the next few years.

“My cur­rent goal is to be one of the top women play­ers in the state, then I can move for­ward to achieve my dream in the fu­ture.”

Fre­man­tle Ta­ble Ten­nis Club is based out of the Sam­son Re­cre­ation Cen­tre.
