FREMANTLE Hockey Club’s men nabbed an important 3-2 win against the Old Aquinians on the weekend.

Fremantle’s sole goal in the first half came courtesy of Dale Midolo and after an arm-wrestle both teams went into the main break 1-1.

The Magpies put the accelerator down in the second half, with two goals to Josh White and Kieren Abbott in two minutes helping Fremantle to the win.

Fremantle’s women came ever so close to their first points of the season against the Old Aquinians but fell just short to lose 3-2.

The Magpies were down 3-0 until the 57th minute mark of the game when Madi Ratcliffe found the back of the net with a much-needed field goal.

Ratcliffe scored again just two minutes later after a penalty corner, but Fremantle were unable to find that goal to eke out the draw.

Fremantle’s women next play Curtin University from 2pm on July 30 at the Perth Hockey Stadium, while the men play right after from 3.30pm.
