PEOPLE GET THEIR WAY
COMMUNITY power has won out in Wray Avenue, with the posted speed limit officially dropped to 40km/h.
Fremantle Mayor Brad Pettitt said the City petitioned for the lower speed limit around the Wray Avenue shopping precinct after years of feedback from concerned members of the community.
He said the 40km/h limit, along with the traffic calming devices installed in 2015, would make the area safer for pedestrians.
“This will see Wray Avenue become an even more attractive urban village,” he said.
“Slowing cars through that section will add to the safety and amenity of the area.”
The limit applies between South Terrace and Carnac Street as of September 18.
