Out of class experiences
ALMOST $300,000 in Federal funding will give University of Notre Dame students the chance to help disadvantaged communities throughout Asia in 2018.
The Federal Government’s New Colombo Plan (NCP) grant of $280,500 will be shared between Notre Dame’s schools of Law, Education, Nursing and Midwifery, and Arts and Sciences to help fund trips to Cambodia and Vietnam.
Notre Dame international pro vice-chancellor Peta Sanderson said the trips enabled students to work with disadvantaged people while honing skills taught in class.
She said experiences beyond the classroom and outside comfort zones saw many students return with increased confidence, global awareness and a commitment to return to the region again.
