Local artists on shortlist
TWO local artists have made the shortlist for one of WA’s most prestigious art awards.
South Fremantle’s Rachel Coad and East Fremantle’s Camilla Loveridge have been named in the final 40 for the Black Swan Prize for Portraiture, one of the richest art awards in the country after the Archibald and the Doug Moran competitions.
Coad is no stranger to the award after being named the 2016 winner.
There are several categories up for grabs, including a $50,000 reward for first prize, a $10,000 foundation artist prize and a $7500 people’s choice award.
The winner will be announced on November 10.
All shortlisted works will be on display at an exhibition at the Art Gallery of WA from November 1 to 27.
