Lo­cal artists on short­list

TWO lo­cal artists have made the short­list for one of WA’s most pres­ti­gious art awards.

South Fre­man­tle’s Rachel Coad and East Fre­man­tle’s Camilla Loveridge have been named in the fi­nal 40 for the Black Swan Prize for Por­trai­ture, one of the rich­est art awards in the coun­try af­ter the Archibald and the Doug Mo­ran com­pe­ti­tions.

Coad is no stranger to the award af­ter be­ing named the 2016 win­ner.

There are sev­eral cat­e­gories up for grabs, in­clud­ing a $50,000 re­ward for first prize, a $10,000 foun­da­tion artist prize and a $7500 peo­ple’s choice award.

The win­ner will be an­nounced on Novem­ber 10.

All short­listed works will be on dis­play at an ex­hi­bi­tion at the Art Gallery of WA from Novem­ber 1 to 27.
