DRAWING ON PIAWANING
ARTISTS draw inspiration from what is around them and for farmer and mum Nyree Taylor, it’s the beauty of her small country town Piawaning that has really taken hold of her creativity.
Drawing on her natural surroundings, Taylor has created a collection of drawings and paintings for a new exhibition at the Kidogo Arthouse.
She said it was hard to pin down her style as it was constantly evolving.
“At this stage I can be quite figurative in my drawing and my paintings are explorative works, so the brush works can differ from painting to painting,” she said.
“This collection is subtle in colour with a few, but then a couple are colour intuitive.
“The title Arcadia reflects the landscape in which I’m trying to find a painting.
“By choosing oil paints as my medium for paintings it ensures a real slow study of the landscape, not just visually but with my ears open as well to really discover my own interpretation of how the landscape makes me feel.”
Arcadia is at the Kidogo Arthouse from September 28 to October 4.
