Oval offers new playground for kids

Fremantle Gazette - - NEWS -

KIDS have a new playground destination after the official opening of the Tuckfield Oval parkland in Fremantle.

The development marks the first stage of the transformation of Fremantle’s historic Cantonment Hill precinct.

The new park features a nature-based playground, barbecues and picnic areas, improved footpaths and lighting and landscaping with water wise native plants.

Fremantle Mayor Brad Pettitt said he was sure the new park, with its spectacular views over the Swan River, would quickly become a muchloved attraction.

“It’s taken a lot of time and effort but it’s fantastic to see this hidden corner of Fremantle come to life,” he said.

“I’d especially like to thank the Friends of Cantonment Hill community group and the Whadjuk traditional owners for their passion and support for this project.”

A lot of time and effort has gone into putting the new park together, according to Fremantle Mayor Brad Pettitt.
