New take on Woolstores plan
NEW plans for the redeveloped Fremantle Woolstores Shopping Centre have been unveiled.
The redevelopment includes demolishing the shopping centre and carpark and building a mixed use area featuring almost 150 hotel rooms, 261 student accommodation rooms, 155 retirement units, offices, tavern, market hall and new shops and carpark.
The development will vary in height from four to 10 storeys.
The plan was changed after it first appeared at the City of Fremantle design advisory committee in April, including the decision to now redevelop the entire site instead of just part of it, the inclusion of the student and retirement accommodation, moving the shops to a more central location and better pedestrian and vehicle access.
The amended plans are now out for public comment.
There will be a community information session on November 9 from 5.30pm at the City of Fremantle administration building’s reception room.
Visit mysay.fremantle.wa.gov. au for more information or to provide comment on the plan.
The comment period closes on November 22.
