Fremantle Gazette - - OPINION - – Denise S. Cahill Editor

SCENES from the series One Tree Hill are coming to South Beach. You know, the ones where Lucas and Nathan fight out their differences, solve their girl problems and fall in love on a basketball court right beside the river. Whether the savvy group of young locals who pitched and made reality a full-size basketball court at South Beach had these scenes in mind or not, it doesn’t matter. This is a great way to bring a community together and it’s the perfect setting. We’ll let South Beach and these savvy individuals take the limelight for now but imagine if the Town of Cottesloe followed their lead and built a full-sized basketball court on the carpark adjacent to Indiana. Cottesloe Beach is the perfect backdrop for a lay up, three-pointer, slam dunk or alley-oop. And it’s not far-fetched. A recreation facility that could include a multi-use sports court is among several ideas for the carpark. Public comment on those plans closed on Friday. Success at South Beach could just be the motivation Cottesloe Council needs to create its own

One Tree Hill set. You never know, maybe the court will help locals repair friendships, solve problems and fall in love.
