Empowered Marani turning heads
WHITE Gum Valley resident Marani Greatorex has claimed the title of ‘most photogenic’ at the 2020 Miss Naidoc Awards.
The 23-year-old — who is a proud Jabirr Jabirr, Nyikina woman from Broome — was among 10 finalists in the six-week empowerment and leadership program.
Ms Greatorex works as an Aboriginal support officer at the WA Museum and is a staunch promoter of cultural awareness and an advocate for Aboriginal women to celebrate their identity.
Perth Noongar woman Katelan Stack, 24, was crowned Miss Naidoc, followed by runner-up Tamika Ponton, a 30-year-old Ballardong Noongar woman from Goomalling.
The award ceremony was held at Crown Perth on Saturday.
