So you’ll record the entire jamming sessions and bring the material back to DC for mixing?

“That is exactly how we did it. We just took all of the core material back to DC and added horns, percussion and vocals, then we mixed everything. It’s kind of like sketching out a painting on paper with pencil and then coming back and creating the painting. We had a lot of material when we got back from Jamaica. We had 28 rhythms that we did in about eight days, and I think we used about 20 of them. There are 15 songs on this record, but we also have a B-sides compendium record that’s going to come out, and that has 12 songs.”
