Blocks party (again!)
Native Instruments has released a free update for its Eurorack-inspired software suite Reaktor Blocks (not to be confused with Roli Blocks, or Novation offshoot Blocs). Version 1.3 brings five new modules for use with the system. Going under the combined family name of Kodiak, these modules aren’t modelled on specific hardware, but are said to combine “analogue character with digital power”.
Duality OSC is a dual oscillator offering phase, frequency, amplitude and timbre modulation. Shift Sequencer is a step sequencer with independent sequence length and direction controls for pitch, octave, velocity, hold, and gate. Curve Sequencer is a module take on Massive’s stepped modulation sequencer. Morph Filter offers a ‘triple-resonant’ filter bank with the ability to morph between settings for vowel sounds, chords or percussion. Finally, Flip Gen is a tone generator and noise source designed with FM FX, modular bleeps and experimental noise in mind.
Blocks 1.3 also includes five new Ensembles, each of which showcases the new modules and can serve as a complete synthesizer in its own right. These come with a total of 195 presets between them. The update is available to download now for Reaktor 6 owners.
