2016 Starts with a Bang

Galston, Glenorie and Hills Rural News - - News -

The lady bowlers at Dural Club had a mixed start to the year with drenching rain on Day 1, and scorching heat on day 2. However that hasn’t stopped the Club Pairs being played and won. Again this year congratulations go to sisters Marelle Saunders and Leone Lesslie who won the event but a new pair, Beryl Glover and Terri Hezlett, Galston’s star bowler, were worthy runners-up having beaten two good teams in previous rounds. It is encouraging to newer bowlers to know that new teams can get to finals.

Another highlight is the planned battle with the Men’s Club for the Club Challenge, a grandiosely titled practice for the ladies’ pennant teams for the season which starts on March 1st. Always played in good spirit the challenge even has a trophy!

Between the challenge and the pennants Dural will host a Fours Carnival with people coming from as far as Merrylands, North Ryde RSL, Wiseman’s Ferry and Northmead for a game in the bush! City folk love the baby goats over the fence.
