All of the educators at Galston Early Learning Centre this month had the opportunity to attend the first Uniting Care Children’s Services Conference for 2016 at Brighton-Le- Sands.

The conference focused on guiding challenging behaviours, positive psychology for children and working through the challenges in documenting children’s learning. All of these presentations provided innovative ideas to overcome these challenges for educators, as well as provide strategies and suggestions on how we, as early childhood educators, can improve our practices on a day to day basis.

After the conference, we reflected on some of the key points. These included- focusing on the broader perspective of children’s behaviour by observing and recording triggers that lead to the behaviour; how our emotions are contagious and drive our capacity to think; the importance of finding the positives in your everyday life to increase productivity at the centre.

We have a passionate team here at Galston and we hope that the children who attend our service now and in future will benefit from our educator’s further developing their skills and knowledge in early childhood education. Our team continually strives to maintain and improve our practices to ensure that the centre provides quality education and care for the children and families within our community.

If you would like to come and have a look at the centre or ask any questions regarding our Educational Program please feel free to contact the Centre Director Daniela Balmer on 9653 1475.
