Na­tive Bee­keep­ing Sci­en­tist to Visit Li­brary

Bee­keep­ing is quickly be­com­ing a boom­ing hobby in Aus­tralia, and now you can learn more about it from ex- CSIRO sci­en­tist Tim Heard at Hornsby Li­brary. Tim will be vis­it­ing the li­brary for an author talk on Satur­day 7 May to dis­cuss his book The Aus­tralian Na­tive Bee Book.

The en­to­mol­o­gist is passionate about na­tive bees and out­lines the many en­vi­ron­men­tal, com­mer­cial and recre­ational rea­sons why bee-keep­ing has be­come a pop­u­lar hobby.

His talk will give an in­sight into na­tive stin­g­less bees as pol­li­na­tors and their con­ser­va­tion, as well as giv­ing in­for­ma­tion on keep­ing hives in sub­ur­ban gar­dens.
