When the World Comes to Galston

Galston, Glenorie and Hills Rural News - - News -

May 1st finally dawned, the day of the Galston Swimming Club Junior Mini Meet for 2016. For the 4th year in a row, we opened our eyes and ears to thunder, lightening and torrential rain.

110 swimmers from more than 30 clubs dutifully arrived, and their commitment was rewarded with a beautiful fine day. This carnival is designed for swimmers less than 12 years old, and even caters for 4 year olds in a kick board race. We had swimmers from as far as Newcastle and Bathurst.

The amazing dedication of the mums, dads and older swimmers of Galston once again gave us a well oiled, seamless and very profitable meet. We had 30 local businesses contribute to the sponsorship and prizes for the day, a testimony to the area we live. A special thank you to the Galston Club, who once again dug deep and were a major sponsor for the day. Our annual presentation night at the Galston Club will have been and gone by the time this goes to print, but I can confidently predict, we all had a ball !
