Have you been to Hornsby Shire Council’s Community Recycling Centre yet? You need to try out this great new facility, which is receiving glowing praise from everybody who visits. It’s an easy and safe way to get rid of a range of household problem waste items that are unsuitable for your bins at home.

One of the best features is the specially designed drive-through that makes it so simple, but even better is the fact it’s entirely free of charge.

Household problem waste items that can be dropped off at the centre include paints, gas bottles, household and car batteries, light globes, smoke detectors, TVs and computers, printer toners and mobile phones.

NEXT COUNCIL MEETING There’s quite a bit of uncertainty around the recycling industry at the moment, due mainly to China’s decision to accept less recyclable material, but right now it’s business as usual in Hornsby Shire.

We are keeping a close eye on the situation and will let you know if anything changes, but for now there is no need to worry. Did you know that last year alone we recycled 14,000 tonnes of co-mingled material? That’s a sterling achievement that we want to continue.

Philip Ruddock

Mayor
