Talk about a track record. This is positioned as Xbox One X’s premier destination, much like the accelerator pedal is the premier destination for your foot when you enter a high-powered supercar. Turn 10’s latest driving sim is another showcase for the console’s killer features: 4K resolution, 60fps, HDR (high dynamic range), wide colour gamut, and more. It’s not a complete generational leap over the Forza Horizon 3, but frame rates are slicker.
Each car in the 700-strong roster achieves more subtle levels of detail. A focus on grime shows in caked-on windshield dirt, improved environmental rendering techniques make dark clouds angrier and sunshine brighter, and drivers now have hundreds of pieces of gear. Nothing too transformative, then, but lovingly authentic all the same. The fact Forza 7 outputs 4K at 60fps for half the cost of a similarlypowered PC really speaks to the power of Microsoft’s machine.
