The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Geralt Novigraduates with honours

Games Master - - UPFRONT -

This epic fantasy RPG emerged fully formed in May 2015, but numerous free patches have built on greatness. Central is an optional alternative movement style minimising delay between input and action, speeding up sometimes unresponsive combat. The muddled UI, one of Wild Hunt’s hardest elements to get your head around, also undergoes welcome iteration. You can now sort items based on specific criteria such as type, price, weight, or durability; there’s a panel in the inventory dedicated to books; and all crafting components and alchemy ingredients weigh nothing, which means you don’t have to make the agonising choice between bear fat and bloodmoss.

For master Witchers, there’s also toggleable enemy level upscaling, multiple linked stashes to store your loot for universal access, and quality-of-life fixes to lip sync issues, stability, and glitches. PC owners get a bonus in the NVIDIA Ansel-powered photo mode in which you can take 360 degree VR panoramas and ridiculous 46,080x25,920-resolution snaps. Strike a pose, Roach.
