Chat’s all folks

Games Master - - Fanbase -

How many GM readers like playing online but either hate or are scared of talking to random players online? I’d love to be able to chat away to other players but I struggle to talk when I’m online and there’s people playing I don’t know. I mean it’s not like they’re in the same room as me physically, but my anxiety prevents me from relaxing.

I’m fine when it’s my friends online but I wish I could get over the fear of talking to new people. It’s hard enough in real social experiences but you would have thought it would be easier interacting online. Introverts unite! Ryan Booth, Facebook We have to admit all of us on the GamesMaster team mostly avoid voice chat with strangers in online games – partly because of the awkwardness factor, but mostly just due to how frequently these interactions are toxic or abusive. The last thing we want after a long day at work is to come home and be screamed at over mic by a 14-year-old with an offensive vocabulary.

There are loads of lovely people in the GamesMaster online community you could play with, though! We reckon that if you post what game you’re playing and your game ID on our Facebook page, you’ll make some new gaming buddies in no time.
