2 handwatering

Gardening Australia - - KNOW-HOW -

Most of us need to do at least some handwatering, and there are ways to make it easy and enjoyable. Treat yourself – a watering kit is a practical indulgence. A decent hose is a necessity, and while it sounds dramatic, it will change your life to have a hose that doesn’t kink. These are more expensive, but worth every dollar.

Make sure you buy a long hose if you have a big garden, as the hose connectors are a weak point when you join two together, and they can leak or catch on plants and pots when you’re watering. In my garden, I’ve positioned a wooden post on the corners where the hose snags, so that it slides around the post and doesn’t damage the plants. Hose reels keep hoses tidy.

Many hoses are sold with fused-on tap connector fittings. If you need new fittings, make sure you buy good quality ones so that the water pressure doesn’t make them fly off.
